Common questions

Does Instagram already remove this?

A social feed usually rebuilds uploaded images and removes much of this information. Sending the original file through email, cloud storage, Discord, Slack, or some messaging apps may preserve it. Cleaning first gives you a separate copy you can inspect.

Will the clean photo lose quality?

JPEG, PNG, and WebP files are cleaned without changing their picture data. Other formats may need to be rebuilt as JPEG, which can change compression slightly. The result tells you which method was used.

What is this hidden information called?

The common technical names are EXIF, XMP, and IPTC metadata. You do not need to understand those formats to see what was found and remove it.

Is the photo uploaded?

No. The selected file is read and cleaned by code running in this browser tab. The file is not submitted to a CleanupMy.link server.
